Is it time for the Orioles to pull the plug on this guy?
Note: Roberts played for the Tides on a rehabilitation assignment and I did not see him play at Norfolk in 2012.
Yes, it’s time for the Orioles to give up on him. He’ll be 35 in 2013 and he’s been seriously injured for the last three seasons. In 2012, he played in a total of 32 games in the majors and minors before he decided his concussion wouldn’t let him play. The chances of him coming back are very slim, and the chances of him coming back and being good are even slimmer.
He is being paid $10 million for 2013, so I suppose they have to invite him to spring training on the off chance that the money won’t be a total waste, but he shouldn’t be counted on to contribute anything.
